Women's Equality Day Proclamation Presentation Greetings District 6 Neighbors, Well, summer apparently read my last update and decided to let us know that it isn’t done yet. We’ve got some scorchers for the next couple of days especially, so take care of yourself and stay hydrated! Today is Women’s Equality Day, celebrating the 19th amendment which gave women the right to vote, and I was excited to be able to attend a ceremony at City Hall this morning where Mayor Woodford presented the proclamation to a group of members of the coalition of women’s organizations supporting women’s rights in our area. As the proclamation notes, not all women received the right to vote at that time, and there is still work to be done, but we nonetheless celebrate the progress and the countless women who worked to achieve that progress. Image by pngtree.com   Greetings District 6 Neighbors, If school supplies being displayed in every store (although I guess that’s been the case since July) and the fact that Mead Pool closed last week and Erb Park Pool will close this Sunday doesn’t tell you fall is on the way, the cool temperatures in the morning certainly should. Heading into tonight’s full council meeting, I don’t anticipate that there will be too much discussion about any of the agenda items. Most of the committee agenda items passed pretty easily. We are likely to have some more discussion of the liquor license for the Corner Pub, in spite of the fact that the owners completed the required repairs to the satisfaction of all city inspectors and the bar was deemed ready to open. Alder Doran, a member of the committee and Alder Hartzheim, who attended the meeting of the Safety and Licensing committee,  expressed their vociferous disagreement with the vote, expressing the concern that other businesses were denied the

  Greetings District 6 Neighbors, I hope everyone got to get out and enjoy some of the glorious weather we had over the weekend – I had to go upstairs and grab a jacket (!!!) before heading out for a walk on Saturday morning. I will quibble that I would have liked some of that fall weather for Mile of Music, but still… As I noted last week, the city issued its General Obligation and Sewerage System Revenue bonds last week, and we got some very good news in the special Finance Committee meeting where we recommended approval of those bond issuances. Because of the fluctuations in the market last week, the rate on the GO bonds was 3.29% rather than the 3.84% in the estimate, saving the city $531,000 in interest on those bonds. The sewerage revenue bonds came in at 3.87% versus the 4.44% estimate, which will result in savings of $1.1 million. Because of the change in the bond premium, the amount of the bonds was reduced from $12,910,000 to $12,630,000. Mr. Viegut from Baird, who handled th
