Greetings District 6 Neighbors, This past weekend was certainly a busy one around town. Arriving at the Performing Arts Center for the Fox Valley Symphony concert on Saturday night, it seemed like most of the city was downtown. I remembered that in addition to the concert, the Holiday Edition of Light the Night Market was wrapping up, and that the Hmong New Year celebration, which continued into Sunday, was taking place at the Fox Cities Exposition Center. It’s great to see so many people enjoying all the events that the city has to offer. I’m making my shopping lists for Small Business Saturday on November 30 and would encourage everyone to shop local for the holidays when you can. I want to share the good news that a bonus round of leaf collection has been planned. For us in Zone 2, we would need to have the leaves out on December 1 for collection during the following week. Greetings District 6 Neighbors, I’d like to start this update by recognizing veterans for their service on Veterans Day. I am planning to attend the Fox Valley Veterans Council event this morning at 11:00 at the Veterans Memorial inside the Outagamie County Courthouse. I’d also like to thank the  City Clerk and her staff, along with all the election workers, for all their hard work during last week’s election. They handled long lines during in-person absentee voting and some long lines at the fifteen polling sites on election day with efficiency and grace. Last week’s Common Council meeting was preceded by the public hearing on the 2025 budget, where several members of the community were present, but the only speaker was the representative of the League of Women Voters. The special council meeting where we will vote on adopting the budget will be held this Wednesday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m. The only item separated for individual discussion at the council meeting was the revised specia

Greetings District 6 Neighbors, Happy rainy Election Day! Actually, it seems that we had a break in the rain for most of the day. Polls are open until 8:00 this evening. If you are in line to vote at 8:00, you will be allowed to vote even if it takes a bit to make it to the front of the line. We should have a leaf pickup in Zone 2 this week, with the final pickup occurring the week of November 18. There is the possibility of another pickup in the last week of November, weather permitting. Now that Halloween is over, remember that in the vacuum zone areas (most of District 6), you need to keep the leaves separate from brush and plant waste, including PUMPKINS. Spent annuals, pumpkins, etc., can be put in paper yard waste bags and placed on the terrace for pickup, while branches need to be cut to 4-foot lengths and tied with twine and placed on the terrace.
